Power bills began to rise in Telangana from April 2022

Hyderabad: Power consumers in the state will have to come out more towards electricity bills from April 2022 with Telangana Southern Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TSSPDCL) and Telananga North Power Distribution Company Limited (TSNPDCL) strive to increase 50 Paise per unit for low voltage (lt ) Domestic consumers and re 1 per unit for all other categories, including the commercial and high tension lt (LT) consumers.

The TSERC will carry out public hearings to seek opinions from people and organizations before completing or approving electricity tariff increases for 2022-23.
“Proposal electricity rates are very lacking and will not be a heavy burden on consumers.
The minimum increase we proposed will be effective after five years, “TSSDCL Chair and Managing Director G Raghuma Reddy said toi.
The Discoms said they were forced to increase electricity tariffs due to Covid-19 pandemics and increased the cost of power plants and the imposition of CESS by the center.
“Clean energy Cess has increased to Rs 400 per ton from the previous 50 per ton of Hospital.
Likewise, coal costs have risen around Rs 800 per ton.
The increase in train delivery costs rose 40% in the past four years.

Both discoms say that while the annual aggregate needs of revenue (ARR) for the coming financial year is RS 53,054 Crore, this income income, including government support, is Rs 42,126 Crore, leaving the revenue deficit from Rs 10,928 Crore.
The deficit will be bridged in the form of an increase in electricity costs for Rs 6,831 Crore and other Rs 4097 Crore from internal efficiency and government support, they said.
Of the total additional income from Rs 6,831 Crore, Rs 2,110 Crore will be obtained from the lt of domestic consumers and 4,720 crore rs of HT consumers, consumers, especially industries.
As a discoms did not submit a tariff proposal, TSERC asked them to submit immediately.
After waiting for two weeks, Tserc rejected a proposal a week ago.
