New Delhi: Indian power consumption grew slightly at 1.5 percent in the first two weeks of January to 49.34 billion units (BU) compared to the same period last year, showing the impact of local restrictions imposed by the middle state in the middle of the third wave of Covid – 19.
During January 1 to 14 years 2021, electricity consumption reached 48.59 billion, according to the Ministry of Power data.
Power consumption throughout January last year was 109.76 Bu, which 4.4 percent higher than 105.15 BU in January 2020.
According to data, the demand for peaks is fulfilled or the highest supply in a day goes up to 179.59 GW for 1 to 14 January year, compared with 178.88 gw in the same period the previous year.
It was 189.39 gW during January 2021, and 170.97 gw in January 2020.
Experts have the view that the slowdown in power consumption growth in the first two weeks of January clearly shows the impact of local restrictions imposed by the third state of the Covid-19 wave affect industrial and commercial demand.
The third wave of pandemic hit the country in January 2022, which has forced many countries to impose local restrictions such as hours of night and weekends.
They have also taken steps like prohibiting eating at the bar and restaurant.
Experts argue that power demand and consumption will also remain calm because of local restrictions imposed by the state.
Power consumption has grown by 3.4 percent in December 2021 to 109.25 Bu from 105.62 Bu in the same month in 2020.
In November 2021, power consumption grew 2.5 percent to 99.32 bu from 96.88 Mom on November 2020.
Many states have imposed limiting locking after the second wave of pandemic in April 2021, which influenced recovery in commercial and industrial power demand.
The adhesive gradually lifted as the number of Covid cases fell.
Power consumption witnessed a growth of 6.6 percent year-to-year in May 2021 at 108.80 billion, from 102.08 Bu in the same month in 2020.
In June 2021, it grew nearly 9 percent to 115.08 bu, compared with 105.08 Bu, compared to the same 105.08 months in 2020.
In July 2021, it rose to 123.72 Bu from 112.14 Bu Year-on, while in August the power consumption jumped more than 17 percent 127.88 Bu compared with 109.21 Bu in the same month in 2020.
Power consumption in September 2021 witnessed flat growth at 112.43 Mrs, especially because the monsoon was delayed.
