Mumbai: Electric distribution company State of Maharashtra Limited (MSEDCL) Managing Director Vijay Singhal on Friday night issued a warning that strict actions will be taken towards their own institutions and employees for incorrect / inachactive electrical meter readings.
MSEDCL supplies the power to 2.8 crore consumers throughout Maharashtra.
“In any circumstances, the reading for each meter of electricity must be 100% accurate.
The inconvenience caused by consumers because of the wrong meter readings in the electricity bill and also lose income to MSEDCL because inaccurate readings will not be tolerated,” said Singhal.
There may be strict disciplinary actions, which can also involve criminal processes to lose large income for electricity companies, the source said.
It has also been decided for a black list of agencies after giving notification of performances a month for the wrong reading.
MSEDCL has made a separate mobile application for “Reading Photo Meter” and the reading retrieval process has been made simple and fast, said an official.
Reading was taken by people from the agency on the contract but they were also crossed by officials, and the latter could also face actions for the wrong reading, a spokesman said.
“We have found cases where the meter reader takes the wrong reading, blur photos etc.
It will not be tolerated anymore,” Singhal said, while speaking at a meeting on Friday with regional director, head engineer, executive engineer, engineer and sub – Division officers from all states of video conferencing from Mumbai headquarters.
