Power Privatization: Ball Back In Center Court

Chandigarh: After the agreement from the Governor of Punjab-cum-UT Administrator Banwarilal Purohit, the UT government has submitted the answer to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in connection with the Project Privatization of Power.
Last month, the Ministry had been seeking clarification on cabinet records sent by administration.
UT Advisor Dharam Pal said the ministry had sought details related to the process of privatization of power, assets and liabilities and several other problems related to cabinet records.
UT has sent all replies related to each request, he said.
In a three-page record, the Ministry has asked UT to provide assets details to be shifted after privatization and maintained by administration, current income from the department, employee strength, performance, obligation, employee liabilities details, infrastructure strength, supply of 2003 electricity law, and Transfer scheme feature.
On September 24, after the agreement of the former UT administrator VP Singh Badnore, the administration has sent a cabinet note to MHA.
Recently, the Privatization Committee of the strength of UT empowerment under the leadership of PAL has agreed to the highest bid of leading electricity distribution based on Kolkata with RS 817 Crore against RS 174 Crore reserve prices.
Administration on August 5 has told Punjab and Haryana High Court that the process of getting nodded cabinet for the Project Privatization of Power will take more than two-three months and submit that challenging petition privatization projects are premature.
The leading distribution of Kolkata-based electricity is the highest bidder for the Privatization of the Electricity Department with RS 817 Crore against RS 174 Crore reserves, defeating giants such as Adani Tata and Group.
This company is a subsidiary of Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation Ltd, RP-Sanjiv Gounka Group.
After relieved from the Supreme Court, Administration recently accelerated the project.

UT planned to open an offer in the first week of June, but the union had moved the High Court.
The UT Engineering Department has issued a notification on November 9, 2020, and invited offers for distribution licenses in Chandigarh.
The offer was closed on February 8 on March 8, UT has issued an amendment of a supply document and expanded the bid date until March 18.
Amendments also provide opportunities for new bidders to bid them and allow the existing bidder to modify them.
