Kolkata: Trinamool Congress on Saturday nominated by Jawhar Sircar, a former CEO of Prasar Bharati who has been the Critics of the Vocal of the MOD Government, to Rajya Sabha.
Sircar, in his first reaction, said: “I was also surprised, there were so many famous politicians and VIPs (to choose from).” Sircar stepped into the hospital as MP appeared earlier considering the third majority of TMC in the Bengal Assembly even though BJP did not want to give him a walkover.
In a statement, TMC said it was “happy” to nominate circars and “invaluable contribution to public services will help us serve our country even better”.
Sircar filled one of the two empty Sabha’s chairs from Bengal, and he was expected to replace Dinesh Trivedi, who resigned from the top home on February 12 and defected to BJP.
The source said Sircar seems to be late in the list for TMC candidates, clogged by political veterans, including the Vice President of the Yashwant Sinha Party.
Asked whether BJP would also set RS candidates to take Sircar, Head of Bengal TMC Dilip Ghosh said, “We haven’t made a decision (about this) yet.”
