Bhubaneswar: For 22-year-old Sahu Priyanka, pregnancy is not an obstacle when campaigning for the election of Panchyat Panchayat from the District Nubada.
Married in 2020, he expected his first child.
He also pursued his post graduation in political science (long-distance education) and aspiring to become Sarpana and serve the poor and need the area.
He said his pregnancy had not yet become a barrier during the campaign while the doctor had given him the end of February for delivery.
“It was my conscious decision to oppose the election.
I did not attract inspiration from anyone.
The situation benefits me only in the sense that the chair is provided for women.
My husband is a contractor and he is busy with his work.
It rarely he gets time to help me during the campaign,” Priyanka said to Ti.on his decision to take part in the contest, he claimed that even though someone was educated he could not directly solve people’s problems without being a public representative.
“I can’t aspire greater than Sarpanch as far as politics pay attention.
I will serve people with human quality and whatever leadership I have and my education will help understand the system better,” he said.
At his father’s house, no one is connected to politics.
“My father-in-law’s Hansam is Sarpanch twice in the 90s.
After I got married, I just heard several stories about his leadership.
But politics has now become too competitive,” he added.
Priyanka was pitted against two more candidates, one of them was Dharani Majhi, unmarried and had done his master in science.
The third nominee was Roshan Bano.Priyanka said he would continue a higher study even after he won the election.
