Godda: A 24-year-old pregnant woman died after being hit by a mini truck in the Godda Jharkhand district on Monday, police said.
The incident occurred in Pirozpur in the Mehrama police station area when the woman was identified as Heena Khatoon, and his mother returned to the house where they lived, an officer said.
The pregnant woman died in place, while her mother was not hurt, he said.
Irate residents blocked the road and burned tires demanding adequate compensation for the deceased relatives.
They raised the blockade after six hours after guarantees by district officials to pay attention to their requests.
The deceased, from Jamshedpur, married Bihar’s Bhagalpur a year ago and has visited Godda with his mother to attend the wedding function.
The mini truck was then confiscated but the driver and helper managed to escape, Shankar Tiwar Shiv police deputy supervisor said, adding that a manhunt was launched to catch them.
