Kolkata: The body of a 20-year-old pregnant woman was found hanging in her home in the Tollygunge South Kolkata, police said on Friday.
Her husband and her mother-in-law were arrested after a note found from home, they said.
The woman, who was two months pregnant, allegedly hung her from the ceiling using ‘Gamcha’ (towel) on Thursday night, police said.
“The record, restored, stated that the mother-in-law tortured him, demanding that his dowry and situation worsened for him, forcing him to take his life,” said a police officer.
“We have arrested my husband and mother-in-law and initiated an investigation into this problem,” he said.
