Colombo: The second edition of the league premiere has been postponed until November-December because of the unavailability of foreign players, the country’s Cricket board said on Friday.
The T20 League is scheduled to start from July 29 but has been postponed until the December 12 November schedule.
“The Premier Lanka League Board believes that reschedule a tournament will allow more players from leading cricket countries to take part in the league,” said Sri Lanka Cricket in a statement.
“The Board made this decision after assessing that at least one similar Premier League and several international tours would be played among cricket countries during August 202, during this period, which was estimated to be the second edition of LPL 2.” Bangladesh All-Rounder Shakib Al Hasan, South Africa White-Ball Captain Toba Bavuma, West Hindia Batsman Nicholas Moran and No.1-Ranking T20i Bowler Tabraiz Shamsi is some players who have registered for the event in accordance with the list announced by SLC earlier this month The decision came in the background of a long row between Sri Lankan players and the State Cricket Board (SLC) on the national contract which ended on Wednesday after 29 of the 30 players signed up for the Indian series.
According to a report about ‘Crisbuzz’, LLL too “without three of the five franchises competing in the first season last year.” “SLC and IPG have stopped the contract of three teams – Kings Colombo and Dambulla Viiking on June 26 and Jaffna Jafsa horse and approval for new management has not been received,” he said.
However, innovative production groups (IPG), LPL event rights holders, however, extend their support for SLC decisions.
“IPG supports SLC’s decision to delay the second edition of LPL.
The league’s success is very important,” said Anil Mohan, Founder, and CEO of the Innovative FZE production group, the official LPL promoter.
“We thank SLC, the Sri Lankan government, players, franchisee, and sponsors for their support.”
