A record of 103 positive Covid-19 cases was found among the players and staff in the Premier League for the past week, said the league on Monday after the post-position assembly during a busy celebration period.
“Today’s league can confirm that between Monday, December 20 and Sunday December 26, 15,186 Covid-19 tests are given to players and club staff.
Of these, there are 103 new positive cases,” the League said in a statement.
The figure continued to increase in recent weeks with 42 cases between 6-12 and December 90 testing positive between December 13-19.
The Premier League has 15 matches postponed so far because of the Covid-19 plague at various clubs.
Watford, who has conducted three matches so far, said they had welcomed the return players who previously isolated but added more to be tested positive ahead of Tuesday’s home match against West Ham United.
