‘Prepare a permanent scheme to prevent floods’

Chennai: Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M on Monday said the administrative engine must prepare a permanent scheme to eliminate encroachment and strengthen river banks to prevent flooding in Chennai.
In his first address to the state disaster management authority as the chairman, Stalin showed the address of the governor recently to the Assembly which stated the Constitution of the Chennai Flood Management Committee.

Stalin directs officials at the district and state level to act in coordination.

He said the bad parts in urban areas and farmers in rural areas were the most affected during the government’s main disaster and objectives were to protect them from disaster, compensation and rehabilitation and rehabilitation.
“Prevention and mitigation measures must be taken with community participation to reduce disaster risk and vulnerability.
Disaster management activities must be expanded as a people’s movement to increase the resilience of the people who live in affected areas,” CM said.
Organizations and voluntary volunteers must be given adequate training and special schemes must be developed by authority to encourage them, said Minister of Chief.
Disaster information must be disseminated to everyone.
Disaster warning mechanisms must be increased to reach fishermen in time for cyclones and floods.
Administration must ensure the security of water courses, alternative power supplies that are not interrupted to all hospitals during disasters.
