NEW DELHI: The forest department has confirmed the presence of a leopard in south Delhi’s Chhatarpur after examining the videos sent by local residents.
Two trap cages have been installed at a farm where the animal was sighted by locals on Friday and a team of forest department is maintaining vigil in the area.
A forest official said: “The leopard has been elusive but the videos shared by locals show the big cat’s presence.
The leopard has been moving as it was initially sighted by locals near Sultanpur depot on Wednesday.
Though we have placed the cages, there are chances that it may go towards Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary.
We are keeping a tab near Asola, but have not yet received any report of leopard sighting there.”
