Preserve Nandigram Poll Records, Calcutta HC tells EC

Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court on Wednesday issued a notification to the opposition leader in the Bengal Assembly of Suvendu Adhikari in the election petition submitted by Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee challenging the results of the Nandigram assembly poll.
Justice Shampa Sarkar acknowledged the Banerjee petition.
The court will hear the case on August 12.
The court also issued a notification to the Election Election Commission, the State Election officer and officer who returned with the direction to keep all records related to the election until the case was heard.
Justice Sarkar passed the order after Adviser Banerjee asked the court to pass the temporary order for the preservation of the record as the election authority was stated to preserve this for six months after the poll.
Cm in his request urged the counting of the court monitored in the Nandigram seat where BJP Adhikari candidate was declared chosen with a margin of around 2,000 votes.
Banerjee made an online appearance at the court on Wednesday obey the order of the Supreme Court which requires the applicant to present the election petition directly.
