Shimla: President of RAM Nath Kovind arrived at Shimla on Thursday for a four-day visit to Himachal Pradesh.
Governor of Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Chief Minister of Jai Ram Thakur and other officials welcomed him at Annadale Helipad here.
Kovind will discuss the state assembly special session on Friday, and on Saturday, he will attend the Valedictory ceremony from the Indian Audit and account services at the National Academy of Audit and Account, Shimla, as a guest said, an official said.
Kovind will stay at Cecil Hotel in Chaura Maidan here instead of a retreat, the president’s residence in Chharabra on the outskirts of Shimla, where he usually stays during his visit to the country.
The president will stay at the hotel when four members of the retreat staff are tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday, officially more.

The President will discuss the Special Assembly session on Friday at 11 am to mark the gold yobel in the state of Himachal Pradesh.
Kovind will be the third president to overcome the Himachal Pradesh assembly after APJ Abdul Kalam in 2003 and Pranab Mukherjee in 2013, Vipin’s speaker Singh Parmar.
Apart from all MLA sitting, a former legislator, including former Chief Minister Shanta Kumar and Prem Kumar Dhumal, has been invited to attend a special session, he added.
Ninety-three former MLA, including Kumar and Dhumal, have given their agreement to attend the session, said the speaker.
Five parliamentarians from the country and seven former parliamentarians will also be present, he added.
On Friday night, the President will attend a cultural and banquet program organized by the governor, added state officials.
On September 19, he will leave for Delhi around 11.15 in the morning.
Deputy Shimla Commissioner-Cum-Kabupaten Aditya Negi has imposed restrictions on the traffic movement from Kennedy Chowk to Boileauganjan through Chaura Maidan during Thursday to Sunday.
Publishing orders on Tuesday under Section 115 of the motor vehicle law, Negi stated that local residents in the area would be permitted on the production of the certificate of residence.
The official vehicle was deployed in connection with the president’s visit and emergency vehicle excluded.
