Colombo: President Sri Lanka Gotabaya Rajapaksa has issued a special gazette that is prohibited from strikes by employees related to important services after the threat by trade unions that they will launch protest against energy contracts with US companies.

Orders follow the threat carried out by utility trade unions, the warning of protest strikes on the electricity sector agreement included with the US body.
The government also faces internal disputes from smaller party representatives of the decision alliance.
The ruling party member from the Allied Party has sought a meeting with Rajapaksa to discuss issues regarding the agreement proposed with Fortress Energy Inc.
US based in Yugadanavi power plants outside Capital Colombo.
At the end of September, the US-based new fortified energy had announced that he had reached an agreement to supply the Ceylon electric board managed by the state (CEB) 1.2 million gallons of liquid natural gas a day through a combined cycle power plant 310 MW and 700 other MW plants to be built in the kerawalapitiya.
According to the agreement, the new fort will initially provide equal to an estimated 1.2 million Gallons of LNG per day to the government.
Petroleum trade unions accuse that the country will lose hundreds of millions of dollars through the disbursed natural gas (LNG) transactions with US companies that can be worth US $ 6 billion.
At least two ministers in the cabinet have threatened to leave their position in their efforts to stop the agreement.
