Lucknow: PM Narendra Modi accused the previous Congress Government in pursuing a sluggish approach that forced people to spend their entire energy to meet basic needs when achieved achieving a greater goal.
Virtually speaking at the launch of the second phase of the Ujwala scheme from Mahaba in Bundelkhand on Tuesday, Modi said it was “unfortunate” that the burden of a heartprint was borne by poor women.
“People can change their dreams only when they are sure to get basic facilities such as LPG, road, electricity, water and toilets, which did not occur for the past few decades,” he said.
Modi chose Mahoba to launch the second phase of Ujjwala just a few months before the assembly election because in the state next year.
The scheme was launched in 2016, it was said to have played an important role in the BJP victory in the 2017 assembly election.
PM said at Ujjwala-2, migrants would not be asked to send a ration card or proof of address.
The self-declaration for ‘family declaration’ and as ‘proof of address’ will be enough.
