Lucknow: It was an unforgettable day for the prominent chiksari shop in Hazratganj when the president’s daughter spent time there and bought Chikan clothes.
Swati, daughter of President of RAM Nath Kovind and Savita Kovind, spent about three hours in a 124-year showroom in Hazratganj Crossing.
He learned about origin, history and art of Chikankari and the Garg family, who owned the shop.
He bought kurta pajamas for the President, Sari for his mother and other complicated embroidery items for other family members.
“After my staff and I will never forget.
He wants to know about the origin of Chikancari through the Empress Mughal Noor Jehan, the Handiwork we have in the store and about my family who have run a business for four generations,” said the owner of Changamak Store, Prabhat Garg , Swati left a award message in the shop guest book.
