Priority for LGBTQ & Migrant members settled in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: Migrant workers settle permanently in Kerala with their families for more than five years have been included in the priority group of micro plans for eradicating extreme poverty in the state, stating the guidelines prepared by the local government department for the project.
In addition to the weaker part to be considered in the project, the BPL family with infected HIV members, orphans and LGBTQ members will be considered as a very weak part that will be given a priority.
The government has announced in the micro plan budget for eradicating extreme poverty in the state.
About five lakh families are expected to be included in this category and the government plans to collect accurate data on these families.
The sub-committee was formed to compile a series of recommendations to develop a guide to conduct surveys to identify families suffering from extreme poverty including eight family groups that priorities will be given for special consideration.
These groups are families that only consist of members over the age of 60, those who do not have certain income, families with sick members in serious beds, families with more than one seriously ill member, those who have Orphans, families with disabled members and no source of income to provide for them, families of migrant workers who suffer from various tribes and families that mostly depend on the work guarantee scheme.
The department has established general factors and subfactors to identify people who deal with extreme poverty.
These factors have been classified based on the availability of food, health, income and residence.
Debt is considered a major factor that leads to poverty according to the guidelines.
Under health factors, a family that has lost its assets due to disease or accidents will be considered.
Those who do not have a place of residence and travelers and families live near dangerous and unbearable conditions such as near the ground, trash cans, waterways, bus stands, and the market will be considered under extreme stress factors.
The city’s poor family lives in homes with the dimensions of 100 SQ M and has more than eight members, coastal fishermen are constantly vulnerable to ocean erosion and those who have basic education, SC and STOels will be given special considerations for general guidelines.
The ST family with chronic energy deficiency is one of the factors that must be considered to be included.
The micro plan for eradicating poverty is expected to be prepared on November 15.
