Beleagavi: The Department of Prison has launched a literacy program in 101 prisons in the state to achieve literacy among prisoners.
For example, in Hindalga prison, 181 inmates do not know how to read and write Kannada.
Melek prisoners will teach them letters, sentence formations and basic grammar.
The Adult Education Department has supplied a book and will also pay coaches who educate illiterate.
This program starts on Monday and has received a good response from prisoners with prisons wearing a school look.
The inmates enthusiastically took part in this program and some studied the letters very quickly.
The department has identified hundreds of educated prisoners who have completed SSLC, PUC and graduation and assign them to groups to teach.
The session was carried out in the day and night at the barracks.
The coach and students are equipped with pencils and books to write letters.
The aim was to make them read and write before they left the prison.

“Now on the newborn stage and currently attract more detainees to learn and teach.
The coach is paid handsome remuneration for their work by the government.
The program is run in 101 prisons in the state,” he said.
In Hindalga, there are more than 100 inmates who have completed SSLC and 18 have completed BA.
“We see them as a resource to be involved in this program.
