Ludhiana: Division 5 Police, on Tuesday, registered a case against a private agent in the Mini Secretariat for cheating and forgery.
The agent, which has not been identified, allegedly falsified an objection certificate (NOC) related to the traffic challans.
FIR has been submitted to the statement of the commissioner with the police (city) Deepak Pareap.
City police started an investigation after receiving an email from the British Columbia insurance company.
The email stated that Nurmal Kumar Sharma, a civilian citizen who currently lives in Canada, has submitted a request for driving permits.
For a license, he was asked to submit the NOC issued by Ludhiana police who stated that no Challan was delayed with Sharma.
Sharma handed over NOC with the authorities concerned.
He said it was issued to him by Ludhiana’s authority on May 20, 2020.
However, when the British Columbia insurance company was examined with city police, it was found that no NOC was issued to Sharma.division 5 Police Station Singh said, “Senior officials conducted investigations and found that The local authorities previously issued a NOC, but the documents submitted by Sharma were forged.
It was also found that Sharma cousins had approached private agents at the Mini Secretariat who had given them false documents claiming it was original.
“
