Madurai: Given the rapid increase in Covid-19 cases in Madurai, a private hospital is exercising carefully especially in the non-emergency department by installing a variety of restrictions to prevent the spread in hospitals.
Elective surgery continues with Covid-19 tests for symptomatic patients.
At Aravind Eye Hospital, the authorities have asked patients to avoid coming to hospital for routine eye examinations to prevent unnecessary crowding.
In notification, it is stated that only patients who face severe eye problems, injury and loss of vision or recently undergoing eye surgery are advised to come to hospital visits.
Last year, OfTalmology was one of the first specialties to delay elective operations and only attend emergencies during the previous wave.
Dentists are also at high risk because they are exposed to the mouth of a patient.
However, the dentist says that all dental operations continue to be carried out without delay.
“At present, we follow the protocols given to us and carry out procedures with Covid-19 security measures.
We are unable to delay surgery, especially if patients are in pain.
However, if there are symptomatic patients for Covid-19, they must take the test.
Furthermore, most patients who suffer even symptoms such as mild flu avoiding come to dental care for their own will, “said Dr.
N Gururaj.
