Hyderabad: After a long wait, the World Health Organization (WHO) on Wednesday gave a prize Diwali to millions of people who were vaccinated by finally providing an emergency use list (EUL) to Covaxin.
NOD has been given for all aged 18 years and over but does not apply to pregnant women.
NOD has come at close to 20 countries have recognized Covaxin.
Recently, an official from WHO said the organization trusted the Indian industry, indicating that the approval was on the card.
Approval does not only open the doors of countries around the world to use Covaxin in their immunization program, but also come as a major pause for those who have taken two vaccine doses but still face restrictions on trips abroad.
“The Technical Advisory Group, which was held by WHO and consisted of regulators from all over the world, has determined that the #Covaxin vaccine meets the protection standard of # Covid19, that the benefits of vaccines far exceed the risks & vaccines are used globally.
#Covaxin also reviewed by whom Expert strategic experts about immunization (wise) and recommend the use of this vaccine in two doses, with a four-week dose interval, in all groups of age 18 and above, “said in a tweet.

Bharat Biotech said validation from WHO, countries can accelerate the process of approval of their regulations to import and manage their vaccines.
Organizations such as UNICEF, PAN-American health organizations and Gavi Covax facilities will be able to obtain vaccines for global distribution for priority populations, ensuring fair access.
