Pune: Veteran Social Crusader Anna Hazare has written to the Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah to establish a high-powered committee under the leadership of retired Judge SC to investigate the alleged irregularities worth 25,000 crore in the sale and function of cooperative sugar factories in Maharashtra.
In the letter, Hazare claims the involvement of political leaders and government officials in cooperative sales of sugar to private entities.
He has been looking for “transparent investigation” to protect the cooperative sector from privatization.
“Even though there is an effort in the middle to revive cooperative sugar factories, 47 these factories have been sold to private players.
They face illegal loan expenses.
Therefore, the financial condition of these weakens and this entity is sold at low prices,” he wrote.
