Gurgaon: District administration on Saturday enforces a ban on production and sales of firecrackers besides green crackers.
In addition, the outbreak of green crackers will be permitted for only two hours during Diwali – starting at 8pm to 10pm in November 4.
This step comes because the air quality index (AQI) is recorded in the ‘poor’ category for the second day in a row on Saturday.
Manufacturing, sales, and the use of firecrackers join (best-selling) are also prohibited because they contribute to air pollution and large noise and solid waste problems, officials said.
Residents can report violations in the toll-free number 18001801817 or send emails to cm9@mcg.gov.in.
Only IICENSED merchants will be allowed to sell crackers who are permitted to order the Supreme Court.
“If there is a violation in the implementation of orders, Sho from the police station concerned will be borne personally,” said the commandment issued by Deputy Commissioner Yash Garg.
“If there are people who violate orders, strict actions will be taken under legal provisions,” he added.
Meanwhile, city air quality is a bit deteriorating on Saturdays.
The whole Aqi was recorded at 272 on Saturday.
It’s standing at 262 on Friday.
According to IMD officials, the marginal increase might be witnessed in the next two days due to changes in the wind pattern, but air quality tends to deteriorate immediately because of unfavorable weather conditions coupled with the adverse effects of the Bursting Cracker.
“We constantly monitor the situation and coordinate with the department concerned to examine dust pollution and violations of anti-pollution norms.
As a precautionary measure, district administration has imposed a ban on firecrackers that create pollution.
People also need to pay attention to exploded crackers and their effects harm, “said senior official from the state pollution control board Haryana.
