Prof got Ransom notes with 3 empty cartridges

Agra: Police Aligarh on Wednesday arrested three people, including nephews of a Muslim University professor of Aligarh University (AMU), for allegedly sending a ransom letter, along with an empty gun cartridge, demanding Rs 10 lakh from him.
Police said five people, including the main allegations, Denmark Ali, who were nephew Dr.
Shagufta Moin, professor at the Biochemistry Department at Amu Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, has planned to extort money from him.
While Denmark and two of his friends – Anjeb Rehman and Deepak Tewari – have been arrested, their accomplices of Mohd Naved and Mohd Adnan fled.
Deepak has managed to get a SIM card using fake ID evidence to call a family of professors, police said.
During interrogation, Denmark told the police that he needed money to pay his debt.
He claimed that he had previously asked Rs 1 lakh from Dr Moin for the treatment of a newborn child but he refused and his baby died.
He said he wanted to take revenge on him, and thus planned to extort money with him threatening.
A FIR was registered under section 387 (placing someone in fear of death or painful hurt, to do extortion), 420 (cheating and dishonestly encouraged property delivery), 120 B (criminal conspiracy) IPC in Kombarsi at the Basic Police Station for Complaints submitted by Dr Moin’s husband, Naved Mukhtar, a businessman.
The other FIR was submitted against the defendant under Section 3/25 from Act Act.
In Fir, Mukhtar, said that his wife had received a call from someone who identified himself as Raju from Noida on Monday night, asked him to take an envelope lying outside their home.
“When I open the envelope, which was placed on my car’s hood, I found three empty cartridges that had our name written on them, and a letter demanded ransom rs 10 lakh,” read Fir.
The Circle Officer (Civil Lines) Shwetabh Pandey told TII that the police had restored a gun made by the country, along with cartridges directly from the defendant.
The SIM card used to make phone calls is also restored.
He said the defendant who was arrested was revived in court detention, and a manhunt was launched to accuse two accused.
When contacted, Dr.
Moin refused to comment on the incident.
