Jain has been appointed as Deputy Chancellor of Baru University of Banaras Hindu (BHU) by President of RAM Nath Kovind, who is a university visitor.
The Bhu Registrar Office has confirmed the appointment of Prof.
Jain as Chancellor’s representative for a period of three years or until it reaches the age of 70 years, which is earlier.

Prof.
Jain completed it from Roorkee University in 1979, and then MS and Ph.D from the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, in 1980 and 1983.
A civil engineering professor, he also worked with IIT Kanpur in a different capacity between 1995 and 2008, before assuming the director’s charges at IIT Gandhinagar in 2009.
He made the concept and developed the National Earthquish Engineering Information Center in IIT Kanpur with the aim of disseminating information and the literature and capacity building against the earthquake.
Prof.
Jain was also conceived, developed and operated the National Program on Earthquake Engineering Education with the Human Resource Repair Department with the aim of developing earthquake techniques in engineering, architecture and polytechnic in this country.
Prof.
Jain is known to conceptuate and develop an Internet-based platform for exchange of ideas and debate problems related to structural techniques.
