THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Dr G Padma Rao, former professor and head of this section of Malayalam, Kerala University, that was under treatment for a year following a road collision, died here on Tuesday.
He was 62.
Rao had been riding pillion on a two-wheeler in which a tree branch fell on the automobile at Pangappara.
Rao was introduced to hospital in an unconscious condition and he was under treatment since that time.
His colleague B Sasikumar, that was also hurt in the collision, has regained.
Rao who had been a famous literary critic and had instructed in numerous S N schools and in Sree Sankaracharya Sanskrit University.
He’d served as dean of school of research, University of Kerala; manager of UGC human resource center; manager of Sree Narayana Research Centre and main editor of Lexicon.
He was also a member of board of research at MG University and also Gandhigram Rural University.
His very first publication in Malayalama research on comparative literature together with O Purushothaman, was printed in 1985.
He’s authored around 75 posts and research posts.
He had been the receiver of C Antony award in 2016.
He had been created in Munroe Islands at Kollam in 1959.
He leaves his wife An Sheela Kumari, manager of Sanskrit University Centre, Panmana, along with sons Agnivesh Rao along with Angney Rao.
The cremation will be kept on the assumptions of Pezhumthuruthu household at 11.30am on Wednesday.
