Progressive farmers show ways in stump management

Ludhiana: ‘Sincere effort’ by the State Government in destroying threats that burn arrears through new techniques and practices to manage the stump has gained momentum with farmers in Ludhiana have provided tremendous support to government calls and avoiding their practice, the district administration statement said .
Gurmail Singh from Boparai Kalan is one of such farmers who has described stumps with Mulcher machines and MB plows reversible in their fields since 2016.
He said that this has reduced its fertilizer costs and also increases crop yields.
Singh stated that before he used to get equipment from the cooperative community but then he bought himself and now he began to provide machines to other farmers so that they could also use it to manage plant residues.
Singh said that burning propellers killing land nutrients including 100 percent nitrogen, 80 percent of sulfur, and 20 percent phosphorus and further produce harmful gases in the environment that leads to health problems among the people.
He stated that he together with other Panchayat members had also held a meeting in the village and all took an oath because he did not burn stumps.
Likewise, Jallanpur’s Jalpal Jallanpur village has expelled the stump of combustion and managing plant residues now creating awareness among its groups of harmful effects of this practice.
Singh who used a rice straw helicopter to grow rice at 27 hectares, said that most farmers in the village hijacked stumps in their fields who gave good results.
Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma appreciated the farmers’ efforts to adopt residual management and reject the burning of stumps.
He said that the state government is committed to providing new machines to farmers because it manages stumps so that no one can enjoy the combustion of mounts.
