Patiala: Two days after prohibiting the use of all types of firecrackers in Gobindarh and Jalandhar baths, the state government has revised its decision, throwing the ball into the court of vice-commissioner of nine cities that fall under the non-achievement category which is usually high in pollution level.

In previous notifications issued on Tuesday by the Department of Science, Technology & Environment, Sales and the use of all types of crackers are prohibited in bathing Gobindarh and Jalandhar from midnight 28-29 to midnight on January 1 to January 1, 2022 after ordering NGT 2020 The average air quality index for November last year remained under the poor category in both cities.

These cities have been declared as ‘non-achievement’ by the Central Pollution Control Agency (CPCB) based on air pollution recorded in the last five years.
