Prohibitory orders clamped in Tinsukia district to check the spread of infection

DIBRUGARH: The Tinsukia district administration has clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC which bans gathering of five or more people at one place.
The order, issued with an aim to contain the spread of Covid-19, also prohibits taking out any procession, dharna, rally without permission of the authorities.
The order signed by Tinsukia deputy commissioner-cum-district magistrate, Narsing Pawar, on Thursday said, “To prevent Covid-19 as well as to maintain social distancing in the society as per government guidelines, it has become necessary to restrict gathering of persons as well as any kind of procession and cultural events in entire Tinsukia district.
The precautionary measures for effective prevention and containment of the virus within the district is needed.
Whereas the Covid-19 health protocols are in place in the district, urgent meaures had to be taken to prevent the spread of Covid-19.” Any person violating the order is liable to be prosecuted under section 188 of the IPC.
However essential services, such as electricity, water supply, medical, telecommunication and law and order enforcing agencies have been exempted from the purview of the order.
People who are moving to vaccination centres have also been exempted from the order.
Tinsukia is one of the few districts where the covid cases are not showing a declining trend.
In the past ten days till June 24, as many as 1,701 positive cases have been detected in the district.
The district has so far recorded 21,454 cases and 304 deaths.
