Gurgaon: A man was sentenced to life imprisonment by the court in Panipat because he hacked his nephew to death over the property dispute about two years ago.
Sukhbir has escaped after committing a crime in October 2019, but was arrested by the local police within 24 hours.
The Panipath Session Judge Manaa Batra lowered his sentence to Sukhbir on Thursday after holding it guilty of evil.
He observed that Sukhbir had attacked Sanjay with the intention of causing his death and ordered him to serve a strict prison sentence of a lifetime.
On October 11, 2019, the City Police Station in Panipat received a call regarding the murder of 27 years old Sanjay, a resident of Binjhol Village.
Brother Sandeep then filed a complaint, accusing Sanjay, a driver by the profession, killed by their uncle Sukhbir.
In his complaint, Sandeep was alleged that his sister had a fight with Sukhbir over property disputes a few days before the murder.
Even though the problem was later resolved due to the intervention of Sandeep, Sukhbir had threatened Sanjay’s terrible consequences, according to complaints.
On the decisive day, Sanjay went to the other Uncle Subhash house in the neighborhood, where Sukhbir also lived.
Hearing Sanjay’s scream, Sandeep rushed to Subhash’s house and found Sukhbir to attack his brother with ax.
Sukhbir escaped from the place but was arrested the next day.
The Public Prosecutor Arvind Sharma said there was extraordinary evidence of the record to prove that Sanjay’s death was caused by several injuries caused by prisoners.
“This case has two eyewitnesses, in addition to the murder weapon found by the police.
Medical and forensic evidence helps nailing convicts.”
