Religious: Some candidates for various political parties, which aim to compete for the Mayor’s post from the Municipal Corporation (BECC) in the election of the upcoming Civic body, were disappointed because the state government on Wednesday was proposed to order a prestigious post of women.
The government will eventually notify postal reservations after considering suggestions and objections from people in two weeks.
But political leaders said the reservation for the post might not change in final notice for posts.
“When the post is reserved for women, I will try to get a party ticket for my wife to hold an election,” said a BJP leader.
“The post was reserved for women in the last election in 2013.
It should be stored without selfless this time,” said Kanhu Charan Pati, former President of the Ganjam District BJP Unit.
Mamata Biso, Zonal President of Wing BJD Women, however, defended the transfer of reservation.
“In the assembly segment of the assembly, women voters have defeated their male colleagues.
Also, the government puts pressure on women’s empowerment in all fields,” Bisoi said, former corporator.
Ramesh Chandra Chaupatnaik, former MLA and President of the Ganjam District BJD, said: “Some candidates for women at our party are competing to the post.
The party’s high command will choose a suitable candidate at the right time.” TNN.
