New Delhi: Congress on Sunday paid tribute to the first home minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at his birth commemoration, with former party head Rahul Gandhi said that when all democratic pillars were “weakening”, it was important to remember his contribution.
Secretary General of Congress Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also paid the realization to Patel by remembering his contribution to the cause of farmers, by saying the struggle “inspired us to stand like a stone in the struggle against the oppression of farmers”.
“Today, when all our democratic pillars weaken, we must remember the contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
He also votes important among Congress leaders who built these pillars,” Rahul Gandhi said in a tweet in Hindi.
Protecting democracy is a real award for Sardar Patel, he said.
Priyanka Gandhi said, “Iron Man” Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel lifted the sound of farmers’ rights and self-esteem at Bardoli Satyagraha.
“The struggle (Patel) inspires us to stand like a stone in the struggle for justice to the oppression of farmers and for their rights,” he said.
