Protein Week 2021: Study shows 46.2% of Indian adults have poor quality of life

New Delhi: Nearly 46.2 percent of adults in India lead a bad quality of life, according to a survey conducted to mark the launch of the fifth edition of the protein week.
While Kolkata recorded the highest percentage of adults (65 percent) with a poor quality of life scores, Mumbai topped the list of adults (68 percent) noted good quality of life.
The protein week is celebrated every year between July 24-30, by Danone India in collaboration with the Indian Industrial Confederation (CII), to increase awareness about the importance of protein.
Quality of life quality surveys (QOL), based on whose questionnaires and additional tools, carried out between May and June 2021 with a sample size of 2762 Indian adults in several cities.
It revealed that more women had poor quality of life than men, 50.4 percent vs.
42 percent.
Likewise, the physical health score of women is less than for men.
The survey also shows that only 9 percent of respondents who meet the daily protein requirements (suggested diet allowances) and there is a large gap in the intake of 10 micronutrients which are important for the immune function and overall health.
Speaking of survey findings, Himanshu Bakshi, Managing Director, Danone India, said, “Protein Week is a platform to direct conversation and build awareness about protein.
This year, we conducted a survey to assess the quality of life India adults with the aim of determining the nutritional impact on Physical health and quality of life.
“Through our collaboration with CII and nutrition experts, we strive to be sensitive to Indian adults about the role of nutrition and protein in improving quality of life.
We try to inspire eating and more sustainable and more sustainable drinking practices with ‘ One planet, one of our health.

MS Vinita Bali, Chairperson, CII National Committee on Nutrition, said, “The new survey findings were made once again the dimensions of the GAP in nutrition, even among high-income groups in our cities.” “It can only be handled by taking personal responsibility for the choices we make as consumers and, on the supply side, making more nutritious food available, accessible and affordable,” he added.
