Chennai: Protest by resident Ganapatypuram Colony in Nandambakkam entered the second day on Tuesday after the road they had used for almost five decades blocked for future development projects.
On Monday, more than 500 residents conducted a sit-in at Mount Poonamallee Road which led to a piles of traffic.
The road was declared zone without access to quoting that Tamil Nadu Industrial Corporation Limited (TIDCO) will immediately start the Fin Engineering project.
According to the protesters, officials dug out a large hole at the entrance of their colony at night without prior notice.
Some visitors and school children, who have to use this stretch, are asked to take alternative routes.
Irked about this, residents gathered in large numbers to question Tidco officials.
Residents said that they were aware of government projects, but they were never told that their regular road would be blocked.

“We have used this land for more than five decades.

When contacting Vandana Garg, executive director, Tidco said that the protest was unreasonable because there was no road blocked.
“This road belongs to Estpl and people use it for a while as an alternative road.
