Bengaluru: Continuing their protests for the noise of burning Kannada flags and damaged the statue of Freedom Fighter Sangolli Rulanna in Besavavi last week, hundreds of pro-Kannada activists from several organizations demanded decisive action against the perpetrators.
The protesters gathered in Mysuru Bank Circle at Kg Road, Maurya Junction near the race and in the statue of Sangolli Rulanna near the city train station in Bengaluru on Monday.
As a precautionary measure, jurisdictional police along with the Batalion of Karnataka State Reserve Reserve Police deployed in these places.
There were no unwanted incidents reported but when several protesters refused to leave, they were detained and taken to the police page at the City Armed Reserve (car) head office, Mysore Road.
“We want Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) and Shiv Sena will soon be banned in Karnataka.
They deliberately created the difference between people from Karnataka and Maharashtra,” said the demonstrators.
The police stopped protesting to showcase hatred placards.
A senior police officer said the conditional permission was given to the agitation stage near the MySore circle, Junction Maurya and the statue of Sangolli Rulanna.
“Protests should not exceed 90 minutes and slogans, hand bills or comments that hurt the sentiments from other languages are not permitted,” he said.
