Protests in Bangladesh against communal violence

Dhaka: Hindu community leaders, students, teachers, and activists will show and observe a hungry token strike in Dhaka and other parts of Bangladesh on Saturday to reduce their requests to ensure the safety and security of religious minorities in the country, local media reported.
Demanding the rapid trial of the perpetrators who attacked Hindu temples, places of Puja Durga, and houses in several recent districts, various groups including Bangladesh Hindu-Bouddha-Christian Parisya Parishad and Bangladeshi Parijapon (BPUP) have announced their participation In protest, report Dhaka Tribune.
BPUP alleged that the administration failed to act on attacks on Hindus in the country, triggered by false accusations from the Koran which was revealed in Comilla.
Nirmal Kumar Chatterjee, Secretary General of BP, said that on the night of the incident, only one guard was present at the Venue of Puja while in Comilla.
The power supply to the Mandapa area is cut off for a period of time between 3am and 4 in the morning, according to Dhaka TRIBUNE.
“The question of what caused the power outage remained unresolved.
Is the incident investigated?” Secretary General BPU asked.
According to the newspaper, so far, a total of 102 cases have been submitted accusing 20,619 people in connection with the recent violence against the Hindu community.
The accusation of the defendant, the police had caught 583 people and the drive was ongoing to capture the rest, according to the official police data.
On Thursday night, the police in Chittagong arrested 10 people, including nine members of the former Bangladesh Rights Council of the former Ducsu VP Nurul Haque, for their alleged involvement in the recent attack on the Puja Durga Pavilion in JM Sen City in the city.
