Chandigarh: In the midst of an ongoing award in the powerful Congress in Punjab, opposition parties, including AAP and sad, on Friday asked the Amarinder Singh government to prove the majority in the Assembly.
The Delegation of the AAM AAM AADMI (AAP) Led by opposition leader Harpal Singh Cheema met the governor here and claimed that the Congress government was “in a minority”.
The group demanded that the state assembly special session be held and the head of the minister was directed to prove the majority of its government at home.
According to a statement from AAP, party leaders said that if Amarinder Singh avoided proving the majority of its government in the next seven days, the Assembly must be dissolved immediately.
Congress has 80 MLA in 117 members of the Punjab.
The opposition request has come when the Punjab Congress faces a crisis because of the ongoing power struggle between Amarinder Singh and the Head of the Navjot Singh Sidhu Congress.
Overcoming meetings in Bagha Purana in Moga, Shiromani Akali Dal (sad) President Sukhbir Singh Badal also asked the Amarinder Singh government to prove the majority.
The minister’s chairman must be ready to face the motion of not confident in the upcoming assembly session because he has “lost the trust” of the majority of the ministers and his legislators and “does not have the right to remain in his chair”.
