Provide the second dose challenge for k’taka

Bengaluru: Only 47% of the eligible population in Karnataka has been given the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
The Health Office authority said the virus was forgotten by most of the population and not many advanced to take the second dose.
The second dose coverage in 18 of the 31 districts is less than 47% of the country, according to data with the Ministry of Health and family welfare on November 5 in several districts, the first dose vaccination taken only August at that time the supply of a simplified vaccine.
Haveri is between the district.
While the 85% of the Haveri population that meets the requirements is affixed to the first dose, only 33% have taken the second dose too.
Bengaluru Urban District has seen the second highest dose coverage at 74%, followed by Ramanagara (58%), BBMP (57%) and Kodagu (56%).
Dr.
Raghavendra HS, District Health Officer, Haveri, said the majority of the first doses had just finished or had not finished 84 days to take advantage of the second dose.
“It is true that the vaccine request has dropped.
But the majority of our first dose recipients will mature for the second dose sometimes,” he said.
Until now, people are not advancing to take a second shot.
The trend is the same throughout the country, said Dr.
Arundhathi Chandrashekar, Mission Director, National Health Mission, Karnataka.
“When the kasing goes down, the public feels there is no covid.
We tried to persuade people to advance to take the second dose.
We can’t force anyone.
But health staff have tried to bring consciousness,” he said.
Karnataka’s first dose vaccination coverage is 87%.
However, Dr.
Arundhathi said most vaccines were given for the second dose from October and so on.
“Of the total doses given in October, 67% are used for second doses and 33% for the first time,” he said.
The Ministry of Health has sent its officers to tour several districts in North Carnataka to assess the Covid situation, and check whether the corresponding behavior of Covid is being followed and see ways to increase vaccination coverage.
“In some North Carnataka districts such as Yadgir and Vijayapura, there is not much compliance with the right behavior in public places.
The use of masks is ignored because people don’t see the Covid case around it.
They think with a decrease in case, everything returns to pre-time Covid.
They are not aware of the increase in infection in several European countries or thinking pandemics is complete, “the official said.
