Hyderabad: A total of 14.2kg pseudoephedrine, a substance controlled for almost Rs 5.5 Crore, hidden in a photo frame was confiscated here on Thursday, police said.
Acting on the intelligence that certain narcotics drugs and psychotropic substances (NDPS) were hidden in Parsel aimed at Australia through the International Courier Institute in Begumpet, Hyderabad Police and Income Intelligence Directorate (DRI), began investigating.
Officials found two packages containing photo frames and other products.
On frame examination, plastic cover is found to contain substances such as white powder which is sandwiched between two layers of frame.
The positively tested substance for pseudoephedrine, said press release from the police Hyderabad.
Twenty-two frames like it was found and they contained 14.2kg pseudoephedrine, he said.
The initial gation investi revealed that shipping was ordered using a fake aadhar card that had the Hyderabad address by two people, perhaps from Tamil Nadu.
Further investigation is underway, police said.
In other cases, a student of the final year B and Dua Technology was detained here today for allegedly selling psychotropic drugs which were banned by methylentioxy methitchetamine (MDMA), also known as Eksasy / Molly, police said, police said.
The police said they won 110 pills worth Rs 3 Lakh from Trio.
The defendant used to buy pills for RS 1,500 respectively and sell it at Rs 2,500 and above.
Trio buys medicines and distributes it through a cellular application, added the police.
