PSUS Oil to set 22,000 EV charging stations

New Delhi: Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and two other public sector oil companies will install 22,000 electric vehicle charging stations for the next 3-5 years to support the nation’s target to reduce the intensity of its carbon and achieve net zero emissions in 2070.
IOC, the largest-controlled refining country in the country with capacity, will arrange EV charging facilities at 10,000 fuel outlets over the next three years, said Chairman of Shrikant Madhav Vaidya.
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) said it would establish 7,000 stations for the next five years while Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) had plans for 5,000 stations.
At the climate change conference 2021, also known as COP26, Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the target of net-zero emissions in 2070 for India.
Also, India targets to increase its low-carbon power capacity to 500 gigawatts (GW) in 2030 and meets 50 percent of the total energy requirements in 2030.
Looking for reducing the economic intensity of its economy of 45 percent, carbon emissions that are projected by 1 billion tons on In 2030 and reached the net-zero target in 2070.
IOC plans to install 2,000 charging stations over the following year, with BPCL and HPCL targeting 1,000 each during the same period, Singheep Singh Puri’s oil minister said on Tuesday.
Mukesh Ambani-LED Billionaire Heliance Industries Venture with BP also launched her first mobility retail outlet in Maharashtra last month, which will offer EV charging and exchanged batteries.
It also completed an agreement with the All-Electric-Hail-Blusmart climbat service to arrange EV charging infrastructure in India.
In a statement, BPCL said building a powerful electric vehicle charging infrastructure would provide new business opportunity companies and hedge to the risk of automatic fuel displacement.
“We aim to reach a count of 7,000 stations to support developing EV industries and these stations will be known as ‘energy stations’,” said Arun Kumar Singh, Chair of the BPCL.
“EV charging infrastructure is one of the five focus segments carried out by BPCL along with Pchetm, Gas, Retail of Consumers, renewable energy and biofuels that will serve the nation’s energy needs.” While the IOC sees fossil fuels such as gasoline and diesel continue to play a dominant role in meeting Indian energy needs in the next few decades, the company is preparing infrastructure to give trust in car manufacturers to increase EV production and to customers drive without interruption, said Vaidya.
“The energy pie of this country grows.
We are not a stagnant economy.
Overall our energy pie grows and all types of fuel will be needed to meet energy needs,” he said.
IOC plans to establish a 50 KW EV charging station in each heavy duty charger 25-km and 100 kW every 100-km to weave the network that will provide customers’ easy access to charge their electric vehicles, he said adding a charging station will be set at a gas station existing and new throughout the country.
“At all our refineries, we take steps to make it clean-zero from the standpoint of production.
We will make an announcement immediately,” he said.
He said that Indian net goals would not have an impact on the planned expansion plan of the company because the energy consumption per capita India was a third of the global average, leaving room for the use of all types of energy including fossil fuels.
“In line with PM @Narendramodi Ji Picamrit announced at Glasgow to reduce the intensity of economic carbon by 45% by 2030, oil companies in India will establish 22,000 EV charging stations in mission mode in leading cities & national highways throughout the country.” Castle tweeted.
Of these, the IOC will establish 10,000 stations.
“Already installed 439 charging stations & plans to install the 2000 charging station on the retail outlet network for the next one year,” he said.
“1000 other 1000 charging stations will be arranged by @bpclimited in the next year & 7000 as a whole.
This has set up 52 stations.
@HpCl who has installed 382 EV stations so far will arrange 1000 stations in the next year & 5000 as a whole Of course.
