Patna: Even when Patna University (PU) has begun the process of receiving students online to all undergraduate programs for sessions 2021-2022, the Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) is awaiting a competent authority nod to recognize students to recognize students.
PU has asked the Distance Education Bureau (DEB) from the University Grant (UGC) commission to give permission for at least one more year to recognize students to various courses considering the Covid-19 pandemic.
New reception to any course under DDE in the current academic session will begin only after Deb permission.
The 47-year-old PU institution, which has been used to attract thousands of students, has faced difficulties in recognizing students because the recent UGC decision only allows universities with ‘A’ courses in distance education under education.

PU has been accredited with the value of ‘B +’.
Previously, DDE PU was stopped his confession with UGC four years ago because of various shortcomings.
Recognition is restored for one session (2019-2020) in the condition that it will meet all requirements within the given time frame.
Last year, PU approached UGC again with a request to consider his request to extend the recognition period considering the fact that the university had submitted a request for a reaction and the National Accreditation Board.
On October 14, 2020 UGC conceded PU’s request and extended his recognition of a year.
As a result, student admissions to various courses were made in November-December last year.
However, universities cannot cut a lot of ice in increasing value due to the appearance of the second wave of Covid-19.
Therefore, PU has asked UGC to extend the recognition period at least one more year.
Head of DDE Khagendra Kumar told this newspaper that this institution provides education to only students accepted in the session 2019-2022 and 2020-2023.
“Even when PU hopes to get a further extension, it is considering starting to enter all four Diploma PG courses in journalism, financial management, marketing management and operation management for now.
