PUDUCHERRY: Pondicherry University has appealed to the Puducherry government to accelerate the allocation of 10 to 15 hectares of land in the Karaisa and two hectares of land in Mahe for the expansion of campuses in two bags of the region.
Deputy University of Chancellor Gurmet Singh asked the Governor of Lieutenant (additional fee) Tamilisai Soundararajan, who is also a university chancellor and urged him to accelerate land allocation.
Singh urged him to allocate three hectares behind the Aringar Anna Government Arts College campus, Karaikan, for the construction of two hostels – one for boys and others for girls.
He also urged him to distribute eight hectares near the campus extension of the Jawaharlal Institute of Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) near the Bypass Road in Karaisa to establish the University of Pondicherry Community College and a quarter staff.
Singh appealed to the government to move two hectares of land in Chalakkara in Mahe to establish the University of Pondicherry University Community College.
Tamilisai was sure to speed up the land allocation process.
Singh invited him to inaugurate the indoor stadium built at Pondicherry University.
