PUDUCHERRY: Following prolonged discussions and talks, the Puducherry BJP on Wednesday declared the party would find the post of speaker of the legislative assembly and representation at the five-member cupboard.
The BJP leaders at the Union Territory stated that they came at a consensus with ally All India NR Congress (AINRC).
BJP Puducherry unit president Saminathan told me that his party might continue to keep the article of the speaker would have representation from the five-member cupboard.
But he didn’t disclose the amount of ministerial berths that the saffron party will get.
He also made the statement after chairing a meeting on Wednesday night of BJP MLAs, such as both nominated MLAs and 2 separate MLAs, that have extended assistance to the celebration.
“The assembly passed a resolution to abide by the decision of the party high command on the amount of ministerial berths for your celebration in the cupboard and their own portfolios.
The party high command will declare the amount of ministerial berths, ministerial applicants along with their portfolios along with the speaker in a day or 2.
The cupboard expansion will happen shortly,” explained Saminathan.
An senior AINRC functionary explained that the party surrendered to BJP’s need for the speaker article and just two ministerial berths although not to this post of deputy chief minister.
“A conclusion on supplying deputy chief minister article to the BJP is going to be taken following the cupboard of five members (like two BJP) melts,” said the functionary.
