PUDUCHERRY: The next wave of Covid-19 disease in April-May has accounted for around 55 percent of the overall deaths from the Union territory of Puducherry because the outbreak of this disease in March 2020.
The April-May interval accounted for 835 deaths — May’d 713 deaths to get a mean of 23 per day roughly 1 passing an hour compared to 683 in March 2020 to March 2021.
Six times in May reported 30 or deaths while 16 days reported 20 or deaths, together with maximum (34) on May 23 and also the smallest (12) on May1.
Back in April, if there were 122 deaths, even seven times had 10 or more deaths.
There were 9 deaths on April 24.
There were no deaths about five times.
“Fatality rate of disease cannot be analyzed independently.
We have to observe the proportion of the amount of instances and the amount of deaths.
The rate of prevalence of disease was full of a brief while during the next wave and because of this the amount of ill patients was large,” explained Jipmer professor (pathology) N G Rajesh.
At the 24 hours end at 10am on Sunday, 930 new cases were reported as 1,895 patients regained reducing the amount of active instances to12,167.
Of these, 10,532 patients have been under house isolation.
The headquarters, that had the very new instances (743) on Sunday followed by Karaikal (143), Yanam (24) and Mahe (20), has the busiest instances (9,624) followed closely by Karaikal (1,869), Yanam (425) and Mahe (249).
Twenty-one patients expired on Sunday carrying the death toll on 1,518.

“It’s now essential for all of us to face and get ready for the next wave.
Eligible beneficiaries need to get vaccinated with no apprehension.
This is definitely the most significant protection we’ve got against following waves of Covid disease,” said professor Rajesh.
