Pune: connecting with millennium and senior who understand the same technology, Pune Police’s Twitter account received more than two crore tweets from last year’s residents.
Connect online also resulted in the number of campaigns initiated by the department, based on advice from residents through social media.
Commissioner Pune Pune Amitabh Gupta has played a role in directing the focus of his department towards social media with the aim of making the police more friendly citizens.
He has pointed to a small team at home with a mission to spill negative public perceptions and wear young, humorous and approachable identity by interacting with citizens online through various memes, motivational messages, selfies at work, and so on.
“None of our posts that value themselves or promotions.
Everything is informative, packed in a fun and interactive way through memes, puzzles, wordplay and tongue-in-cheek comments for their own criticism,” he said.
In the campaign ‘I asked me nothing’ about Instagram’s story, Gupta revealed his cellphone number for citizens who wanted to deal directly with him.
Since 2020, Pune Police’s Twitter handle has increased by more than 2.5 lakh followers.
The Instagram account has more than 16,000 followers.
Portable Head Praveen Ghadge, a member of the Pune Police Twitter team, said, “Residents have responded well for our initiative, such as knowing the police, consciousness will patrol spots, and cyber-themed cyber awareness campaigns.” The current initiative of #mysafepune produces an additional 98 spots of patrol, he said.
However, not all were impressed.
A professional who works from Baner, said, “Religion how fast Pune police respond online, but there are often many delays when it comes to taking actual action.”
