Pune: Chakan police on Wednesday arrested three people on charges of trying to squeeze Rs30,000 from a pharmacist.
The suspects on Tuesday forced pharmacists, whose construction work took place in Kadachiwadi in Chakan, to visit a remote place where they demanded from him Rs30,000 to continue the project.
They rob RS2,000 from him and tell him to give the remaining RS28,000.
An officer from Police Chakan said the pharmacist then filed a complaint.
“On Tuesday, his workers contacted him and said the last to come to the site.
When he went to the place, four men were there.
They told the complainants that they were locals and he had to pay them money if he wanted to continue construction work.
“The officer said while the complainant tried to talk to them, the suspects began to create a commotion.
They pelted stones at the site, because the workers fled.
“They forced the complainants to come with them.
They demanded RS30,000 from him and threatened to kill him,” he added.
The complainant told the suspects that he only had RS2,000 with them.
“They threatened him to pay the earliest amount.
The pharmacist approached us.
We have caught three of them,” the officer said.
