Pune: A three-year-old boy sustained a thick injury to the neck and ears in an attack by leopards in Rajuri Village in Junnar Taluka, about 100 km from here from Pune-Nashik highway, around 8:30 a.m.
The boy, Ved Akshay Chaskar, rushed to a private hospital where he received a total of 150 stitches into his wounds and recovered, officials from the Junnar Forest Division.
The boy played on the porch of his house, while his parents worked nearby in the livestock when the leopard appeared from a sugar cane farm which was located close to their home and captured the boy.
His parents rushed to hear him heard his shout when Leopard dragged the boy for almost 25 million before leaving him.
Deputy Forest Conservator (Junnar) Jayram Gowda told TI on Monday, “Leopard caught the boy and dragged him to the thickness of sugar cane about 25m away.
Hearing Ved’s cry, his parents chased the animal, shouted to help.
The animal leaves the child and runs away .

He then shifted to a private hospital in Bhosari.
The doctor at the hospital on Monday told us that the child had received around 150 neck stiches and His head.
“Forest officials who reached the place in the village found the pug sign of leopard and blood stains.
Yogesh Ghodke, the Range Forest Officer of the Otur, said that they had received permission from the Ajalanya to install trap cages in the village to arrest the animal.
“Leopard observations often occur in and around the village because of the large number of sugar cane fields.
Also, fruit plantations such as bananas, pomegranates, etc.

This is not the first time Leopard attacks children in Junnar.
In the past it was also attacked, said forest officials.
“We suspect that the animal might have identified the child as a prey.
However, we are investigating all aspects that might occur in this case,” Gowda added.
In accordance with government norms, said Gowda, the family will soon get financial compensation.
“The family will get a maximum amount of compensation until Rs 2 Lakh from the government immediately,” he added.
