Pune: 35 Dams in the Division Hold 7% more than last year

Pune: 35 large dams in the division, at the end of June, collectively holding 27% of water stocks, which is 7% higher than shares owned by this reservoir on the same day.
Stock at the end of June this year was the highest in five years.
The heavy rain spell increases the surface of the water in the dam in the division.
Data of the State Irrigation Department revealed that in 2019, the dam collectively has a water stock of 7%, while in 2018 and 2017 shares in the main dam in the Pune division each around 22% and 16% respectively.
Data on the Department of State Irrigation revealed that five dams that supplied water to the city – Khadakwasla, Tanghar, Varasgaon, Panghet and Bhama Askhed – now held more than 3.5 TMC additional stock, compared to the same time last year.
Officials from the State Irrigation Department said that in accordance with the data in recent years, the main dam catchment area in Division Pune received a heavy mantra in July and August.
This year, a good mantra was also recorded in June and it has caused an increase in water stocks.
“Pune Division includes the Satara District, Kolhapur and Sangli.
The dams located in all these districts have also recorded rain spells that are quite rainy and rise in water stocks.
In the coming months, we expect a similar mantra, which can push further water levels” , said an official.
Stock in most dams in the Satara District and Kolhapur is around 30% of each of their lives stock captors, including Koyna with 37% Live shares at the end of June and Radhanagari at 25%.
Collective shares in four Dams – Khadakwasla, Tempar, Varaggaon and Panghet – that water supply to the city is at 8.61 TMC (29.5%) on Wednesday while Bhama’s storage asking is 3.23 TMC (42%).
VP Patil, Executive Engineer from the Irrigation Circle of Khadakwasla, said that the flow of rainwater in the reservoir was reduced in the last three days due to calm rainfall in the water catchment area.
Stocks in the dam have been saved to meet the requirements of drinking water.
The water level in the reservoir is being checked every day, he added.
