Pune: 6 Booked for RS 52 Lakh Fraud promised a good return

Pune: Police Alandi on Monday enrolled a case against six people, including two women, on charges of deceiving seven people amounting to Rs 52.32 lakh on a good return appointment on their investment.
The suspects allegedly took money from the victims over the past two years, but failed to fulfill any appointments.
A 34-year-old woman from Ambegaonon Taluka filed a complaint to the police.
The complainants and relatives have lost Rs 24.40 lakh to fraudsters.
When contacted, the complainant told Ti that he was first related to one of the women’s suspects in 2019.
“This woman promised us that if we invested money in a company based in Bavdhan, we will get doubled in one year,” said complainant.
The victim borrowed money by pawning his gold ornaments and gave it to the defendant.
“We gave him Rs 24.40 lakh, but did not get a return.
Moreover, the woman also lured us to buy a vehicle for him.
We took a loan on his name.
Now, we pay the loan,” the complainant said.
He added that some fake corporate directors came from the Thane District.
“Recently, when we went to the house of one of the directors, he did not appear.
Instead, he sent several men to threaten us.
He had told the local police,” said the complainant.
The woman tracked six more investors, cheated by the suspects, and submitted the first information report (FIR).
“There are more than 30 people who have invested money with this scams,” he thought.
A police officer Alandi told Ti that the suspects had been ordered under 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal violations of trust) from the Indian Code (IPC).
